    Our team has worked with Hydro-Québec on this project in many ways. First, we performed impact assessments prior to construction authorization and a sectoral study of the bank geomorphology and dynamics created by future developments. Later, we provided detailed engineering of the ancillary services for the facilities. This included preparing equipment design notes and detailed working drawings for auxiliary electrical and mechanical systems.

    The power plant is comprised of three turbines generator units for an installed power of 150 MW. Our team prepared design notes relating to the equipment portion of the electrical and mechanical systems of the auxiliary services, including Preparation of design notes relating to equipment part of the electrical and mechanical systems of the auxiliary services, including: 2 000 kVA transformers and related 600 V distribution (distribution centers, panels, etc.); load studies, voltage regulation and short-circuit currents; fire detection system; lighting system; air conditioning and ventilation systems (HVAC); drainage system; fire protection system; service water systems; wastewater systems; low and high pressure compressed air systems; drinking water systems (distribution and treatment); and equipment handling system (monorails).

    The Mékinac Dam reached the end of its useful life and needed to be replaced. Complex studies and modeling were required due to foundation issues caused by unconsolidated soil. We provided design, detail drawings and specifications for the demolition of the existing dam; the construction of the new dam; civil works; structural works; the new system of hoists for easier operation of the stop logs; the electrical distribution system, including the lighting, grounding and telecommunication; and schedule of work preparation.

    The Drummondville power plant, with 15 MW of installed power and in operation for more than 70 years, faced several problems due to the wear of turbine-generator units, the obsolescence of installations, high maintenance and operation costs, which led the client to its complete rehabilitation as well as of certain structures. Our team provided design and preparation of drawings and specifications for the complete rehabilitation of the plant and its structures.

    The project consisted in carrying out the complete overhaul of the gates and gate guides of the Coteau 1 and 2 Dams on the St-Lawrence River, downstream of lake St-François as well as the July 1 and 2 Dams in St-Timothée. Among the services our team provided: inspection and measuring of the thickness and dimensions of the gates and guide gates; simulation of a corrosion profile and 25-year projection; on-site work supervision.

    Shawinigan Dam Complex

    Due to the age of this facility (originally commissioned in 1914), Hydro-Québec decided to upgrade the plant. The complex has eight turbine-alternator groups, and our team was contracted to conduct preliminary project studies and provide detailed engineering services covering most aspects of the plant. This included design and production of drawings and specs for the supply, installation and construction of equipment and systems, managing engineering works and coordination with sub-contractors and between different specialties and manufacturers.
