Yas Island, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, provides a family-friendly entertainment and leisure hub to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Located on Yas Island, Ferrari World is the first Ferrari-branded theme park in the world. As a first of its kind destination experience, it has been awarded as the best theme park in the Middle East by World Travel Awards for eight consecutive years. This park showcases 40 record-breaking attractions. These include Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest rollercoaster, a roof walk on the tallest space-frame structure and the world’s first Ferrari e-sports arena. The park’s Flying Aces ride broke three world records and features the highest inverted loop. Additional amenities include a tire changing challenge, a zipline that travels through a roller coaster, a cinema, as well as dining and shopping experiences.
EXP’s scope through design and construction included lighting design for the area development, facades and coasters. Thoughtful design of the park’s lighting provides elegant, dynamic and colorful lighting accents to the interior of the theme park. The design illuminates various façades and structural MER O columns with full color changing RGB LED fixtures, allowing for a dynamic light show repeating at the top of every hour. Decorative light poles fitted with energy efficient metal halide lamps dynamically light the area plaza.
