The Hamilton Farmers’ Market and Central Public Library together create a vibrant presence for the community.
Set at an ideal location on a long stretch of York Boulevard, the project combines two distinct programs in a uniquely unified space. The 6-story library features new public spaces, reorganized and enhanced collections, and increased computer and internet access through a new 50-workstation information commons.
On the two main levels, the renovated farmers’ market offers improved HVAC, lighting, plumbing and an optimized layout characteristic of the vibrant, bustling market. Connecting these two programs seamlessly, the upper level of the market is part mezzanine shared with the ground level of the library, while the lower level’s spacious atrium connects the market to York Boulevard.
