In support of collaborative research among students and faculty, the design approach for the Noyes Nanoscale Theory Center employs attributes we refer to as FAST – Flexible Adaptable Space and Technology.
Located within the historic Noyes Laboratory of Chemistry, originally constructed in 1901, the Nanoscale Theory Center remodeling and repurposing project will provide a collaborative, technology-rich 21st century facility for students carrying out research in the field of theoretical chemistry.
The design for the Center looks to precedents beyond academia, borrowing ideas from entrepreneurial and collaborative business and research models in the private sector. The project is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
