As a major regional development project, the Sherbrooke Exhibition Centre provides the town of Sherbrooke with a world-class facility to host regional, provincial and national exhibitions, trade shows, conferences, concerts and other events.
The new event center offers exhibitors a 5,600 m² flexible, ultramodern facility with modular exhibition areas and high-tech capabilities. The facility’s central staging area was designed to accommodate heavy traffic for a range of events. Energy efficiency was a core aspect of the design. Systems equipped with rotary heat exchangers were installed to recover energy from exhaust air. The installation of a Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) provides more control over each light in the exhibition areas independently of other areas in the building.
Given the event center’s proximity to Mont-Mégantic International Dark Sky Reserve, minimizing light pollution was critical for the design. The parking lot’s lighting was designed in accordance with the town’s light pollution regulations and to preserve the dark sky for all viewers.
