The Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway (The Parkway) is the most significant highway investment made in Ontario’s history. It is a $1.4B infrastructure project delivered by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Ontario under a design, build, finance and maintain contract with the Windsor Essex Mobility Group and its joint venture Contractor.
The Parkway brings a six-lane, 11-kilometer freeway and four-lane service road with 11 covered tunnels (totaling 1.8 kilometers). As the Province’s transportation solution to improve traffic movement through Canada’s busiest gateway – the Detroit-Windsor borders – it provides a direct route connecting Highway 401 in Windsor to I-75 in Detroit.
As part of the engineering team for the Design Build Contractor, EXP provided geotechnical engineering consultation, testing and approval of all materials on site as part of the Quality Control (QC) and Quality Verification Engineer (QVE) services.
