The Garson Mine is an underground nickel mine in operation for over a century. Located in the city of Greater Sudbury, the mine site is known for its challenging ground conditions due to the mine resting on a dyke and aquifer.
Upgrades to the Garson Mine Water Management System (GMWMS), including storage ponds, dam and water treatment plant, are critically important to maintaining safe operations. EXP reviewed the design, completed phase 2 of the detailed engineering phase and developed the execution plan for the proposed upgrades. The execution plan helped minimized risk during construction by condensing the schedule to three months. These efforts helped Vale’s tender process to start the construction phase of the project.
