Quebec
Montreal’s metro has been moving Montrealers for over 50 years. The need for fast and reliable public transit continues to grow, and so does the network. The STM’s blue line extension project – the largest to be launched in recent years – will significantly grow the network, and EXP is very excited to provide engineering services for this major project. The new section of the blue line, which should welcome its first commuters in 2026, will include 3.6 miles (5.8 kilometers) of tunnel, five new metro stations, two new bus terminals, a park-and-ride lot and several auxiliary buildings.
Ontario
EXP is pushing ahead on two major rail networks set to eliminate long commutes and heavy traffic. The Hurontario Light Rail Transit and the Davenport Diamond Grade Separation projects look to alleviate some of this pain and enhance mobility for communities.
As a member of the Mobilinx consortium, our teams will bring their expertise to the Hurontario Light Rail Transit project, which will provide approximately 11 miles (18 kilometers) of fast, reliable and rapid transit as part of an integrated regional transportation network connecting Mississauga and Brampton with the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The massive scope of the project will be supported by EXP experts in the infrastructure, transportation, buildings, geotechnical and earth sciences groups, with a focus on the south segment of the alignment and the Operations, Maintenance and Storage Facility.
Also on track is the Davenport Diamond Grade Separation project. It is intended to eliminate one of the busiest train track intersections in North America, where freight trains and passenger trains intersect at a ground-level rail crossing. As part of the Graham Commuter Rail Solutions design team, EXP contributes to the grade separation structure, retaining walls, diversion tracks and bridge replacement. Completion is expected in spring 2023.
United States
Mass transit in the United States is on track to grow rapidly and we’re honored to be a part of building a better future for cities across the US. EXP is busy delivering architectural and design services to support the largest capital improvement project in Chicago Transit Authority history: the Red and Purple Modernization Program, a $2.1 billion-dollar project.
Connecting people, housing and jobs is an ongoing mission across the US. EXP will deliver program management services in Northern California’s Valley Link program. This important project is set to connect Northern San Joaquin County communities to the Tri-Valley and Bay Area Rapid Transit systems.
Transit solutions don’t stop there. Our experts in Florida have a history of working with Virgin Trains USA, formerly known as Brightline, to provide transit solutions for Floridians. As our teams work to increase ridership in Southern Florida, they also have kept an eye on future needs, including supporting transit-oriented development. Our professionals recently completed mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for Park-Line Palm Beaches, a luxury high-rise apartment complex, across the street from the new Brightline West Palm Beach train station.
