Winter is a season for generosity. At EXP, this is often a time of year where employees across our North America offices feel inspired to pay it forward. Here are a few examples of good deeds from employees at our Markham, Orlando and Gatineau offices.
Markham, Brampton and Sudbury, Ontario
In a great example of collaboration and common purpose, the Markham regional marketing team reached out to the Brampton and Sudbury offices to combine their efforts for the annual bake sale. They managed to shatter their fundraising goal, with a grand total of $4,240, on behalf of Children’s Wish!
Better yet, we have now raised enough money to have officially funded a wish for a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. A representative from Children’s Wish visited the Markham office for the cheque presentation and shared the heartwarming story of Lily, diagnosed with cancer, who’s life goal was to meet Ed Sheeran, and how we helped make it come true. It was an experience that no one will soon forget.
Orlando, Florida
Every holiday season, our Orlando office joins forces with local charities to give to those in need. A local tradition has been established over the past five years of working with the Baby DJ toy drive to ensure the holiday magic is not lost for children in need. Baby DJ is a local Central Florida organization founded by morning radio show host “Johnny Magic” to help disadvantaged families with toys for their children and necessities during the holidays.
Our Orlando office also teamed up Acomb Ostendorf and Associates (AOA) to donate backpacks filled with some essential items for the Orlando Coalition for the Homeless to support their IMPACKS initiative. EXP employees filled backpacks for middle schoolers and passed them out with our friends at AOA.
Gatineau, Quebec
Last November, the employees of the Gatineau office had the idea of helping out a family in need for the holidays. “I contacted a local community organization and told them that EXP’s employees would love to help out a family in need this year for the holidays. They told me about this opportunity to help an African family with five children, the Katantsis,” said Eric Forgiel, administrative assistant.
Our Gatineau office employees gave generously: clothing, toys, kitchenware and personal care products. On top of that, they collected $715, and the family was given a grocery gift card for that amount.
For our offices across EXP, we continue to thrive as a community – one who grows when our surroundings flourish. With local roots, we can give where it counts – in our backyards.
