We have recently reaffirmed our commitment to supporting future engineers and promoting innovation by making a major donation to the University of Sherbrooke’s foundation and engineering faculty. The donation supported the implementation of an on-campus “fab lab,” the Studio de création – Fondation Huguette et Jean-Louis Fontaine.
Strategically located between the university’s engineering faculty and management school, the new pavilion was designed to provide students with a state of the art, inspiring and collaborative space, where they can develop tomorrow’s products and technologies and takes their ideas from dreams to reality.
Completed in October, the building includes an exhibition and interaction hall, a mezzanine, ideation, assembly, rapid prototyping, electronics, machining, mechatronics rooms, as well as a vast multipurpose room and a woodworking area.
EXP’s contribution to the Studio’s creation goes beyond the financial investment. EXP was involved in the project from its inception, providing structural, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering design services.
We are very proud to be part of this project that is a testament to our commitment to driving innovation and providing engineering students with the tools to explore the possibilities.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on October 4 and a few of our Sherbrooke office employees and managers – many being Sherbrooke University graduates themselves – were present. It was a proud moment, as the alumni were able to experience coming full circle themselves by passing their innovation onto the next generation.
