A common thread throughout EXP’s 90+ offices is providing tailored solutions for the communities we serve. In Florida, EXP’s transportation group, led by Senior Vice President Anthony Caruso, is known for its talented professionals and community involvement. We have community-serving professionals who are acutely aware that their roles on projects often have them right in the middle of people’s daily lives. As we work with clients to create more connected roadways, bridges and infrastructure, it’s important to recognize the people who make this job rewarding – our communities.
EXP’s Senior Construction Project Administrator Porter “Buck” Reed is currently leading community involvement by example. In July 2021, he and the Construction, Engineering and Inspection team including Vice President, Construction Services Anthony Caruso; Senior Inspector Chris Kilpatrick, Inspector Randy Eddings, Executive Assistant/Assistant Project Manager Morgan Reed and Administrative Assistant Bryanna Stevens began working on the Twiggs Street Design Build Safety and Improvements Project for the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority. “From upgrading drainage systems, accommodating an additional turn lane for improved vehicular flow, the addition of ADA improvements and crosswalks, new pedestrian features and many other improvements, this project was certainly challenging yet rewarding,” said Buck.
He continued, “Our priority is to complete the job while also mitigating risk for the community, including local businesses, facilities and the nearby Channelside Academy Charter School. We worked with their principal to minimize delays for pickup and drop-offs and ensure they knew EXP was invested in their best interests. We were very humbled to see the reactions to our work, and we’re all proud of the teams’ effort to make this project a success.”
The team continues to work on the project, which has an estimated completion date of February 2022.
The project strives to improve traffic conditions and reduce congestion while simultaneously enhancing pedestrian safety.
