The new US 41-Fruitville recently opened in Sarasota, Florida. Led by the City of Sarasota in a joint venture with GreenPointe Holdings, EXP and the Florida Department of Transportation, the roundabout was designed to support increased walkability and safety for the city.
“The overall goals of the project are to increase traffic flow, pedestrian mobility and safety while adding additional connectivity to the downtown area,” says lead Kevin Daugherty. The roundabout contributes to downtown Sarasota’s mission to become more pedestrian-friendly.
The $7.8 million roundabout project included the addition of a 12-foot wide multi-use path, pedestrian HAWK (High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk) signals, roadway lighting, major drainage improvements and deep sanitary sewer. EXP provided full construction, engineering and inspection services for this project, including materials sampling and testing, claims analysis, utility coordination and many other vital services. The roundabout was completed in late November and has already begun to make a difference in the flow of traffic and walkability in downtown Sarasota.
EXP is proud to contribute services that lead to safer and more sustainable cities.
