Global biotechnology company, Moderna recently celebrated the construction completion of its new mRNA vaccine manufacturing plant in Laval, Quebec. The event was attended by project leads from EXP’s Building + Industry team, as were several federal and provincial ministers and project partners CRB, NFOE and BTL.
For this project, EXP provided comprehensive multidisciplinary engineering services, including preparation of technical documents for the project’s mechanical, electrical, civil and structural engineering aspects, as well as supervision throughout the project.
Andrée-Anne Verreault, EXP Director, Science + Technology and project manager for the Moderna build, presented the innovative engineering solutions implemented by our experts. These solutions will help Moderna achieve its sustainability goals, including net-zero emissions. It is designed to eliminate most fossil fuel usage supports Moderna’s drive to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 in scopes 1 and 2.
“Working collaboratively with Moderna and their partners, we leveraged our biotechnology expertise and the adaptability of our cross-functional team to navigate each phase of the project with precision. This synergy not only facilitated a seamless process but also culminated in the creation of Moderna’s cutting-edge facility”, said Andrée-Anne.
EXP’s scientific and technological expertise in the design of controlled atmosphere environments for clean rooms, clean services and other pharmaceutical processes was a key factor in the success of this major project.
