On November 2, 2022, team members from EXP’s Towson office, alongside city officials and partners, attended a ribbon cutting event at the Aberdeen MARC Train Station to celebrate the completion of the Aberdeen MARC Station Connectivity Enhancement project. Vice President, Mid-Atlantic Transportation, Dan Williams shared, “We’re proud to work with the City of Aberdeen on projects that increase safety and transportation options for pedestrians and bikers. We look forward to seeing the positive effects of these improvements.”
EXP contributed to the design, engineering and construction management alongside DSM Contracting and the City of Aberdeen. The project was the result of a $700,000 grant from the Maryland Department of Transportation/State Highway Administration to improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity surrounding the Aberdeen Train Station. The project included new sidewalks, ADA-accessible crosswalks, enhanced lighting, landscaping and bicycle racks. The improvements also addressed signage, bus shelters and lighting for increased pedestrian safety. Mayor Patrick McGrady stated, “Aberdeen is excited about the completion of the MARC Station Connectivity Enhancement Project. This project compliments the City’s Transit Oriented Development Master Plan and the future Station Square improvements.”
