EXP continues to grow its presence across South Florida and the Northeast region with new hires Reynaldo Abreu, Carmen Olazábal and Roberto Vasquez. The growth contributes to the South Florida team’s strategic plan to broaden service offerings to clients across North America.
The team, led by Executive Vice President John Flint and Vice President Business Development Kyle Henry, enhanced EXP’s capabilities to deliver port and marine, rail and transit, aviation, bridges, water civic projects across local, state and federal levels.
To accelerate EXP’s commitment to enhancing water and wastewater services in the United States, Rey joined EXP as director of water/wastewater. In this role, Rey will leverage 40 years of experience as a civil engineer working on the design, construction and quality control of water distribution, water and wastewater treatment plants and transmission systems to expand EXP’s service offerings to clients and positively impact communities throughout Florida and beyond. Rey has served in numerous leadership roles at the Miami Dade Water and Sewer Department. He is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree and is a licensed professional engineer in Florida.
To match local, state and federal commitments to protecting the nation’s resources, EXP welcomed Carmen Olazábal as director, sustainability + resilience. With over 20 years of experience delivering solutions in sustainability, engineering and project management, Carmen joins EXP to foster more cohesive and advanced sustainability and resiliency strategies throughout Florida. Carmen has served in various senior leadership positions including Assistant City Manager for Operations for the City of Coral Gables, President for 4City Consulting and most recently Vice President of South Florida at Alpha Corporation. Throughout her career, she has led Capital Improvement Programs and consistently worked on projects to enhance the vitality and liability of communities including the Canal Bank Stabilization Project, 59th Extension and Redevelopment Project, Miracle Mile and Giralda Streetscape Project, Coral Gables Sustainability Master Plan and Bike Master Plan among many others. Carmen is a graduate of Harvard Business School with a Master of Business Administration, a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a Master of Science in Structural Engineering, has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and is a licensed professional engineer in Florida.
Roberto Vasquez joined EXP to help cities build strong and sustainable transportation networks. With over 28 years in the transportation industry, Roberto’s experience spans multiple modes of transportation including aviation, mass transit and highway and bridge projects. In his role, he will leverage his expertise in structural design, inspection, rehabilitation, project management and construction of fixed, movable, prestressed and steel plate and box bridges to elevate Florida’s infrastructure. Throughout his career, he has contributed to successful large-scale conventional design-bid-build and design-build projects for the Florida Department of Transportation, Miami Expressway Authority, Central Florida Expressway Authority, the Florida Turnpike Enterprise and others. Roberto is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree and is a licensed professional engineer in Florida and Louisiana.
