EXP joins Ikea at Climate Week NYC

November 5, 2024

During New York’s Climate Week, EXP’s Vice President of Sustainability Amy Pastor joined industry leaders at the “Let’s Fix What We Have: Adapting Yesterday’s Buildings for Tomorrow” panel hosted by Ikea. The event, which took place at Climate Week’s ‘Nest Campus,’ brought together executives from various sectors to discuss practical strategies for ambitious sustainability goals and highlighted the crucial role of corporations in advancing environmental stewardship.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk joined Ikea North America CEO Javier Quinones to kick off the panel and discuss the future of sustainability. During the panel discussion, Pastor shared insights from EXP’s successes in implementing green building practices across various projects. She discussed the importance of creating energy predictions for the future, including weather predicting and assessing plans based on the building user.

“For these projects, the challenge is taking past experiences and making them future proof. You have to look at the return on investment for your client. You’re going to save energy and provide health and wellness for users through these sustainable choices. It requires careful planning to arrive at sustainable buildings but it is possible,” she explained.

The discussion and Q&A session covered topics of commissioning, warranty visits and assessing what can be done today to make buildings more sustainable. Pastor emphasized EXP’s commitment to future-proof designs, through collaboration with clients and creating plans that suit the user and the environment.

At EXP, we’re proud to bring sustainability expertise to our projects and clients.
