The Department of Energy, through the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), has selected EXP as a Building America Retrofit Solutions Team. EXP was one of eight applicants selected. These teams will work to implement decarbonization strategies in existing housing.
As the team lead, EXP, along with partners New Buildings Institute (NBI) and Community Housing Partners (CHP), will focus on the implementation of low carbon solutions in manufactured housing in disadvantaged areas. As a participant in this program, EXP will work toward the larger goal of decarbonization through eco-friendly, refrigerant-based systems.
EXP will be responsible for strategic planning, equitable community engagement, stakeholder management, specialized energy initiatives and quality assurance. Communication with community members will be a critical component of the project. Keeping those in the community aware of the project and its impact allows the project teams to consider their perspectives and input.
“At a time when the need has never been greater to minimize environmental impact, this project underscores EXP’s commitment to sustainability and supporting the communities that surround us,” said EXP’s Senior Energy & Sustainability Manager Haleh Moghaddasi. “By confronting and addressing barriers to implementing energy-efficient systems, our team advances EXP’s dedication to protecting the built and natural environment.”
