The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) have selected the SR400 Peach Partners consortium for the SR 400 Express Lanes Project. The consortium is formed by ACCIONA, ACS Infrastructure and Meridiam.
EXP is proud to serve as the Independent Quality Firm. Safety and compliance are critical for project success, and EXP will perform independent quality assurance, construction inspections, sampling, testing and auditing compliance with Disadvantaged Business Enterprise requirements to help the project meet its goals.
The SR 400 Express Lanes Project involves the design, construction, finance, operations and maintenance of a 16-mile-long corridor in Atlanta which will include additional dynamically tolled free-flow express lanes in each direction between McGinnis Ferry Road in Fulton County and McFarland Parkway in Forsyth County. It will also involve upgrading several key bridges along the route.
This is one of the largest highway projects in the United States, and the first privately managed express lane project in Georgia. “EXP has an extensive history working in Georgia, with an office location in Atlanta for over 20 years and a strong working relationship with GDOT. We are poised to use our deep understanding of the transportation networks in the area and our vast experience in highway and roadway projects to help bring this project to life,” said EXP’s Senior Transportation Project Manager DeWayne Comer, who is the IQF Quality Assurance Manager for the project.
The goal of the project is improved accessibility and enhanced travel time reliability for the public, while also ensuring safety and minimized construction impacts on the environment and the local community. The team has developed multiple alternative technical concepts to improve design and efficiency, to integrate the expansion of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) transit system and to improve the user experience. To ensure safety and minimal disruption during construction, the team will employ radar technology to consider predicted traffic patterns. This will allow for better traffic flow and reduced delays for drivers.
“This is a historic project for Georgia that will transform the way businesses and residential communities commute in Atlanta. We are excited to collaborate with the SR400 Peach Partners team to ensure the project meets quality standards and supports enhanced, reliable and safe transportation,” said EXP’s Vice President Kyle Henry.
EXP is dedicated to working with private and public partners to provide safe and equitable transportation solutions that benefit the communities we live and work in.
