On April 17, members of Sherbrooke’s city council held a special meeting during which they unanimously approved the project presented by EXP and its partner, Groupe Custeau, for the revitalization of a section of Wellington Street in downtown Sherbrooke.
Named Espace Centro, the EXP | CUSTEAU project was one of three projects submitted last January after the City launched a call for proposals for the much-needed and long-awaited transformation of the area. To ensure a rigorous and transparent selection process, a selection committee made up of city officials conducted a thorough analysis of all submitted projects based on specific criteria, and recommended the best project for the downtown area to the council.
EXP’s involvement in this project goes well beyond engineering, as the firm will own 50% of the buildings. Through this, EXP is not only demonstrating its commitment to invest in the revitalization of the city’s downtown area, it’s also investing in the well-being of its Sherbrooke office employees. Once construction is complete, the 200 employees currently working in the Vimy Street office will move into this new, modern space adapted to EXP’s needs and future growth.
Espace Centro, a $75M project, consists of:
- Two new buildings ̶̶ 6- and 10-story towers
- 200,000 SF of office, commercial and residential space
- A 40,000 SF exterior public space
- A multi-story parking garage with 715 parking spaces
- EXP’s future Sherbrooke office!
