EXP is proud to announce that its multidisciplinary teams will deliver services for the expansion of MDA Space’s satellite production facility in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. Once the 185,000-square-foot expansion project is constructed, this high-volume manufacturing facility will be the largest of its class in the world.
This design/build project involves close collaboration between various experts and stakeholders during the design of the plans and specifications. EXP is providing process mechanics, science and technology, building mechanics and electricity, civil engineering, materials testing and fire protection services. EXP’s Energy Transition team also assisted in securing subsidy programs for the project and will provide support services for LEED certification.
“Our ability to provide multi-disciplinary services under one roof promotes a collaborative approach between client and partners. With construction underway, we’re entering this new phase of the project with enthusiasm while continuing to work together with our partners Broccolini, NFOE, and SDK to support MDA on this innovative project,” said EXP’s Senior Director, Buildings Willy Giordano, who is the project manager for this project.
The global space industry is expanding, and to meet demand, MDA plans to double its satellite manufacturing capacity in a timely manner. “It’s important to adhere to a strict deadline at each stage of the project. Using high-quality digital technologies has become a major asset for the many experts and stakeholders involved in the project, from design to construction and operation. Our teams are working with state-of-the-art management and collaboration software that provides a clear, complete picture of the situation at each design stage, streamlining decision-making for all disciplines,” said Willy Giordano.
Construction is scheduled to be completed in Q4 2025, and MDA plans to start production at its new facility in 2025.
