We are delighted to announce that Jean-François Pelletier, engineer and project manager at our Sherbrooke office, will be joining the ASHRAE committee in charge of developing the Standard Method of Evaluating Zero Energy Building Performance.
Jean-François’ appointment as a voting member of this new committee was ratified on July 1, during the ASHRAE Annual Conference held in Kansas City. Shortly, Jean-François and other members of the committee will start to diligently write this new standard, which has been long awaited by a number of players in the building industry (legislators, developers and designers).
“I’m eager to start writing this new standard with other members of the committee. Considering the current climate crisis and knowing that buildings account for 40% of global energy consumption, such a standard would bolster efforts by industry players to reduce the energy and carbon footprint of buildings that we design and build. What’s more, we know that this new standard has also garnered interest from small communities and high-density regions that want to pivot to models that use 100% renewable energy.”
