EXP is proud to work with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) and Broward County to promote energy efficiency initiatives throughout the state of Florida. Our team recently completed an electric vehicle (EV) charging masterplan for the MDAD and finalized the design of the plan’s infrastructure. Additionally, EXP completed an EV charging infrastructure (EVCI) strategy for Broward County that will allow them to reach electrification goals.
Electric vehicles ease the impact of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on the environment as they release an average of 50% less GHGs than vehicles that use gasoline for fuel. The transition to electric energy yields significant environmental benefits and can positively impact communities through improved air quality and cost savings.
Currently, more than 50% of Broward County’s GHG emissions come from transportation. EXP’s work with Broward County will help bring this number closer to the county’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050. The EVCI strategy emphasizes equity and community. It includes strategies for charging infrastructure cost-sharing programs for employment centers and multifamily housing, as well as public-private partnerships that engage community members.
Through our partnership with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD), our teams will add Level 2 EV charging stations across five MDAD locations. The installations will feature 13 dual chargers and 5 single chargers, providing a total of 31 charging spaces for the MDAD EV fleet.
