For many years, November has been Centraide/United Way month for our offices in Quebec.
The current pandemic has triggered a spectacular increase in the number of families having to rely on food banks or other community organizations for support. The need has never been greater. Our campaign volunteers were determined to not let a little physical distancing get between them and this longstanding employee-led initiative. They rolled up their sleeves and did what we’ve all been doing for most of the year: they drew up a new game plan, revisited fund-raising methods and activities, and the entire campaign went virtual.
Throughout the three-week campaign, they reached out to their colleagues, providing simple, safe, secure and fun ways to give. And give they did! Their generosity reached a new summit, raising a record $52,000 for Centraide/United Way ̶ a 16% increase from last year. With a campaign goal of $46,000, that’s what we call exceeding expectations!
Year after year, the expression of our people’s commitment to giving back to local communities is a great source of pride. This year, more than ever, it’s a beautiful and heartwarming way to end a particularly challenging year.
Hats off to our campaign volunteers and thank you to everyone who chose to act and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
52,000 times thank you!
