In addition to winning Best Project in the Sports/Entertainment category, the Georgia Aquarium sea lion exhibit project is one of the five projects shortlisted for the prestigious ENR Southeast Project of the Year award!
Opened last winter, the new installation is now home to two of the rescued sea lion pups found stranded on California beaches in March 2015. Named Jupiter and Neptune, the two now serve as ambassadors, educating guests on the dangers and challenges sea lions face in the ocean.
SunTrust Pier 225
Visitors can see the sea lion exhibit at SunTrust Pier 225, Georgia Aquarium’s newest gallery.
This expansion, the second largest to be completed at the Aquarium since it first opened in 2005, involved selectively demolishing an existing exhibit structure to build a new 3-story atrium complete with a themed entry area, a show tank with a 585-seat theater, upgraded training areas and sea lion holding tanks, as well as educational areas.
EXP provided technology design, MEP, and fire protection engineering services for this award-winning project.
