One of the projects on which EXP worked as project engineer/designer – the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge rehabilitation project – won the International Repair Concrete Institute’s Project of the Year award. The winning project was announced during the 2019 ICRI Fall Convention in Philadelphia, at the annual ICRI Awards Luncheon held on November 12.
The award was presented to Marco Bourdon, one of our Quebec bridge engineers, and Jonathan Clavet, market manager at Sika Canada, one of the materials providers involved on the project.
What’s more, this is the first time the award goes to a Canadian project. Competing projects included the Napa Valley Courthouse (California) and the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (India).
“We are very happy. It brings us great pride to be able to showcase the potential of some of the work being done in Quebec by engineers and contractors,” said Marco.
About the project
Acting as project engineer/designer, our team was responsible for conducting structural assessments and detailed design for the reinforcement of the post-tension girders of the bridge. The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge on Highway 40 crosses the Ottawa River, connecting the province of Quebec’s Montérégie and Montreal administrative regions. Rehabilitation work started mid-2017 and was completed early August of 2018.
