EXP brought their expertise to two projects awarded at the Grands prix du Design Awards. The international competition recognizes the global excellence of creative individuals and firms in design and architecture. Two award-winning projects include Sherbrooke University’s Institut Quantique and Montreal’s Fleurs-de-Macadam Plaza.

The Institut Quantique is a science research pavilion at Sherbrooke University that includes offices, labs and collaborative workspaces, arranged to promote organic collaboration. With a robust concrete foundation and a crystalline envelope of reflective metal and curtain wall windows, the building’s exterior emphasizes the possibilities and intrigue of science to onlookers. EXP delivered mechanical, electrical and fire protection services.

As Quebec’s first “water square” – a multifunctional and temporarily floodable public square – Place des Fleurs-de-Macadam provides an inclusive gathering place in the heart of Montreal. This sustainable public square provides users with a climate-resilient green oasis. Combining ecological performance and high-quality landscaping, it also contributes to reducing urban heat island effect in the city. To help the project achieve success, EXP delivered urban design, landscape architecture, electrical, civil and structural.
